Workplace, Interrupted.

21 January 2021

Question:  What happens when you get 5 notable disruptors from Workplace, Design, Technology and an Organisation Behaviourist around a table and ask them their opinion on ‘Workplace, interrupted.’

Answer:  A wide reaching conversation, some minor disagreements and lots of lively banter. Oh yes, and Star Trek and The Matrix gets a mention too.

In November, Vega Global hosted a round table at Steelcase’s work café to share ideas on the future landscape of workplace with panelists;

  • Nicholas Lesek, APAC Regional Head of Corporate Real Estate for Swiss Re
  • Tom Herron, Principal at Hassell Studio
  • Richard Claydon, Chief Cognitive Officer at EQ Lab
  • Paul Cullum, COO, Vega Global
  • Heather Li, Director of Digital Workplace Solutions, Vega Global  (Moderator)

With recent challenges brought about by the COVID pandemic, more and more organisations are questioning the financial burdens of centralised office locations whilst simultaneously re-writing their play-books to redefine where and how their people work.   Bringing a wealth of experience and personal insights to the table, both from a Client and Vendor-Partner perspective, each of our panellists share their visions for the future of workplace post pandemic with some fascinating and unexpected conclusions.

Over the coming months we will be sharing some of the highlights from the question and answer session covering topics such as:

  • Whether the introduction of new technology should stimulate and change the working habits of the employee
  • Does Workplace drive Technology or Technology drive Workplace?
  • VR / AR Software – How will it change our everyday working environment and will it drive the end to the traditional Workplace?
  • So how do we get people incentivized to go back into the workplace – Is it as simple as incorporating beanbags and a walking track into your design?
  • The ‘new norm’ is now ‘norm,’ so what is ‘workplace, interrupted?’
  • And last but not least, the Panellists debate whether the workplace of the future will be more Star Trek or The Matrix – or even, perhaps worryingly, Black Mirror.
