Workplace, Interrupted. (Episode 2 Part 2)

05 February 2021

In this second part of the Episode 2 trilogy, Richard Claydon raised some interesting questions on how workplace technology should activate and energise the workers? And how will it add to productivity and improve performance? He shared his experience in running a department where they have workplace technology in place, but nobody uses it, citing technology need to be integrated into the work that everybody is doing.

Paul went on, "historically, from an AV perspective, the digital vision is usually the last consideration in a design and budgets are being squeezed", and it was agreed that PM's, architects, and designers should be starting the conversation with AV specialists much earlier into the design phase ensuring it is costed in at the beginning and not at the end. Paul mentioned there are still managerial challenges to incorporating technology into concept designs and Vega continues to educate decision-makers into the benefits of early planning for future-proofed spaces.

The panellists debated over the process of integrating technology into the workplace. They went on to share varying insights from different points of view and agreed that workplace technology shouldn't just be all about screens but also the people and the work they do.

Stay tuned for part 3 of episode 2, as questions on employees' not being engaged in how or why workplace technology benefits them were asked. Nicholas Lesek also shares real-life scenarios that demonstrate the correlation between fully engaging employees on how to best use available technology leading to increased internal (and external) customer satisfaction levels.
