Job Overview:
The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical oversight and support throughout the project lifecycle. They review project scope, estimate work hours, and develop engineering and
architectural drawings. The role involves identifying and addressing technical or logistical challenges, ensuring the quality and completeness of the project deliverables. Project Engineers collaborate with internal teams and external vendors, evaluating products and coordinating necessary resources for successful project execution. They provide regular project updates, assist in monitoring the project budget, and contribute to system testing and commissioning. The Project Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient implementation of projects, meeting client requirements and ensuring customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee technical aspects of projects from the award stage to installation and completion.
  • Ensure quality and completeness of project Scope of Work (SOW) by reviewing and making necessary revisions.
  • Estimate project hours based on needs analysis, SOW, and bid requirements.
  • Develop engineering and architectural drawings, calculations, and acoustical modeling as required.
  • Identify and address technical or logistical challenges that may affect the project’s successful delivery.
  • Determine any special requirements for the project, such as test equipment, specialized tools, or rigging support.
  • Test audio DSP or video processing systems software for system functionality.
  • Provide technical support to the project installation team when necessary.
  • Oversee the commissioning of systems, both in-house and on-site.
  • Evaluate products by meeting with current and potential vendors.
  • Provide regular project updates to the Project Manager.
  • Assist the Project Manager in monitoring the project budget.
  • Design wall plates and overlays.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of integrated systems when required.
  • Assist the project installation team with engineering and DSP system programming support when needed.
  • Scrutinize and approve equipment based on the final design for the Project Manager to complete equipment orders.
  • Support the Project Manager in handing off the project to the installation team, as necessary.
  • Provide documented test results from system testing and commissioning to the Project Manager.
  • Review project designs created by both internal and external resources and submit them to the CAD department.
  • Revise field and shop red-line drawings to “as-built” status for submission to the CAD department.
  • Be willing to travel to various job sites as required.
  • Perform any other assigned duties as needed.

  • Proven business writing skills.
  • Proficient with test and calibration equipment.
  • Support user acceptance testing.
  • Ability to program, change and troubleshoot (AMX/Crestron).
  • Ability to diagnose complex system problems.
  • Advanced computer skills as required for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment.
  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interaction with employees, clients and colleagues.

 

Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Engineering (Electrical/Electronic), Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.
  • Proven two years of experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar role, preferably in the Audio Visual or Engineering or Construction industry.
